Project: Built-In Bookshelf Cabinet – Wanstead
For this installation in Wanstead, we built a made-to-measure bookshelf and cabinet unit to maximise storage and create a clean, built-in finish. The design combines deep base cupboards, a solid timber worktop, and upper open shelving—ideal for books, décor, and day-to-day organisation.
The brief
The client wanted a unit that:
- Uses the wall space efficiently with a fitted, built-in look
- Adds hidden storage at low level to reduce clutter
- Includes open shelving for books and display items
- Provides a durable worktop surface
- Is ready for final prep and decorating
What we did
- Built and installed the base cabinet carcasses with internal shelving for practical storage.
- Fitted a solid wood worktop, cut neatly to suit the room layout.
- Hung shaker-style doors and aligned all gaps for a consistent, professional finish.
- Installed the upper bookcase section, forming evenly spaced shelves for books and display.
- Added a tall cupboard section to the side for concealed storage.
- Finished with top moulding/cornice and detailed filling/sanding to leave everything ready for painting.
Result
A smart, functional fitted unit that transforms the room—combining display space and hidden storage with a seamless, custom-built finish.
