Project: Staircase Refurbishment & New Back Door Installation
For this project we improved both security and day-to-day usability by installing a new solid timber back door and refreshing the access area leading into the property. The client wanted a door that felt robust and traditional, while keeping practical features like pet access.
The brief
- Replace the existing rear access with a strong, secure timber door
- Ensure a neat fit to the existing brick opening and frame
- Include a cat flap positioned at a practical height
- Leave the entrance looking tidy and ready for finishing
What we did
- Built and fitted a ledged & braced timber door for strength and stability.
- Installed heavy-duty black strap hinges to suit the traditional style and provide reliable support.
- Set the door in the existing opening and checked levels, clearances, and swing for smooth operation.
- Cut in and fitted the cat flap, keeping the panel work clean and properly framed.
- Completed the threshold/step detailing so the entrance is practical and weather-ready.
Result
A solid, traditional-style back door that improves security, function, and appearance, with a clean finish and a practical cat flap for everyday convenience.
