Project: Boiler Concealment Cabinet Build

This project was all about tidying up a boiler area without compromising access for servicing. The boiler and pipework were fully exposed in a narrow utility space, with visible copper runs and openings at high and low level. The goal was to create a clean, boxed-in cabinet finish that looks neat, protects the pipework, and still allows easy maintenance.

What we did

  • Surveyed the space and clearances around the boiler and flue, making sure the enclosure layout kept access practical.
  • Built a timber stud framework to create a strong, straight structure for boarding and future finishing.
  • Installed moisture-resistant boarding around the boiler opening and along the full height of the enclosure for durability.
  • Formed service access points:
    • A large mid-level access panel for valves, filter and pipe connections.
    • A lower cut-out left ready for pipework/condensate runs and final detailing.
  • Left the enclosure ready for final finishing (skim/paint or a cabinet-style door set, depending on the final spec).
